Enochian Ritual Generator
Enochian + Chaos Magic + Excel
So... this is how/why I decided to combine a chaos magic practice, Excel, the Enochian Keys into what may as well be a form of performance art.
I went to a class on chaos magic that was really interesting to me, and I learned about William S. Burroughs' "cut-up" method. In essence, what he did was take a page from a book and randomly cut out words. He'd then arrange the words in such a way that they formed something resembling a sentence: which functioned as a description of the spell to perform as well as a divinatory proclamation of its outcome.
And I was like, "Well, that's pretty neat. But... what if Enochian??"—which is just how it goes sometimes I suppose.
At any rate, I decided I wanted to use the Enochian Keys as the basis for the cut-up, but printing them out and cutting out random words felt a bit too arbitrary for me—I wanted to remove myself from the determination of words as much as possible.
So what I decided, why not base it on parts of a natal chart? And I can cast a natal chart for the date-time-location of the ritual to be performed!
I got excited, and I settled on using the Hermetic Lots as the basis for calculation. The way it works is relatively straightforward (explanation incoming!): calculate the position of the Lot of Exaltation (I just plug in the date-time-location into this website and select the traditional chart), enter the house into the "House" column and degree into the "Degree" column. From there, the corresponding Angelic word from the 15th Key is determined, and the Enochian and English translation are provided in the far-right columsn.
As an actual example: let's say the Lot of Exaltation is in the 4th house and 20th degree—that would be the 110th degree of the circle (note: the reason it's 4 - 1 is because multiplying by 4 directly adds another 30°):
This gives us 110, which could be the 110th word. However, the 15th Key is only 32 words long. Therefore, we perform one more calculation:
The 15th word of the 15th Key is "BAEOVIB", which translates as "the great name righteousness".
So how might this work in practice? Consider the following array:
In it, I have managed to construct the following sentence/gibberish using almost all of the words: "Behold: in seats 12, whose reign and continuance amongst us, as buckles gather up with poison of your creation; she is [the] third flame of God, of fury, and liveth within the depths of my jaws with dryness."
If I were to want to use this as a spell (which I won't and don't advise under any circumstance), I might do the following:
At the date, time, and location specified in the natal chart (can't you see how predestined this spell is when using these precise calculations?), I would draw a circle with twelve seats upon it (I can't draw well so they'd probably just be lines or something if we're being honest). I would place a trinket—some significator—representing a particularly oppressive, venomous force in my life or the world at large. I would heat a large marshmallow (ideally over a flame) and recite the Enochian words that correspond to the above passage—and I would do so with great conviction and seriousness because this is obviously a normal thing to do.
"MICMA THILNOS SOBA SONF OD MIAM AAIOM TALOLCIS ALDON FABOAN QAA; PII DIASPERT OIAD, BAGHIE, ODAPILA PIADPH ORSCOR."
Next, I would open my mouth and stick out my tongue, letting it hang in the air until it becomes dry. Once my mouth is bereft of moisture and my tongue feels like dry sandpaper, I would hold the marshmallow in my mouth and focus on flames and fury, imbuing the marshmallow with these principles.
And at the end, I would take the molten marshmallow and smear it over the significator in the circle. And then I'd probably try to laugh a lot and forget about the whole thing.
Sweet, sweet revenge.
At any rate, if you want to play with it, go for it. There are probably errors in the Enochian (honestly, I have found some inconsistencies even within the Enochian lexicon in the Keys that just... bug me), but hey, this is for fun and play—so hopefully you find joy and delight in at least having read this.
Adieu. 😅
