(insert line that's a silly pun here)
As far as I can tell, this is the first Key (and I think just one of two if memory serves?) that references Jesus. It's also about lines.
Anyway, let's get to it.
The text
Enochian
"OTHIL LASDI BABAGE OD DORPHA," GOHOL, "GCHISGE AVAVAGO CORMP PD, DSONF VIVDIV, CASARMI OALI MAPM, SOBAM AG CORMPO CRPL, CASARMG CROODZI CHIS ODUGEG, DST CAPIMALI CHIS CAPIMAON ODLONSHIN CHIS TALO CLA. TORZU, NORQRASAHI, OD FCAOSGA, BAGLE ZIRENAIAD, DSI ODAPILA."
DOOAIP QAAL, ZACAR ODZAMRAN OBELISONG RESTIL AAF NORMOLAP.
Dee's English
"I haue set my fete in the sowth, and haue loked abowt me; sayme, are not the Thunders of encrease numbred 33, which raigne in the second Angle vnder Whome I haue placed 9639 Whome None hath yet numbred,, but one in Whome the second beginning of things are and wax strong which allso successiuely are the number of time: and their powres are as the first 456: Arrise you Sonns of pleasure, and viset the earth: for I am the Lord your God which is and Liueth"
In the name of the Creator Move, and shew your selues as pleasant deliuerers That you may praise him amongst the sonnes of men.
Contemporary adaptation
"I have set my feet in the south and have looked about me," saying, "are not the thunders of increase numbered 33, which reign in the second angle, under whom I have placed 9639, whom none hath yet numbered but one, in whom the second beginnings of things are and wax strong, which also successively are the number of time and their powers are as the first 456. Arise, you sons of pleasure, and visit the earth, for I am the Lord your God, which is and liveth."
In the name of the creator, move and show yourselves as pleasant deliverers that you may praise him amongst the sons of men.
Interpretation with key takeaway
We start with a phrase about "south".
I have set my feet in the south...
This, right here, implies that there is also east, west, and—most importantly—north. The reason that I care about the north-south opposition is because they form a line.
That's what this Key is about: lines. At least after a fashion. It also has a few interesting riddles.
Anyway, the next segment:
Are not the thunders of increase numbered 33...
Aaron Leitch suggests that the thunders are what are referred to in the New Testament, particularly the book of Revelation. I think he's correct; but there are other interpretations that could also be valid and valuable—one of which I hope to introduce below.
which reign in the second angle, under whom...
This means that the thunders are a collective and are a who, not a what. Again, this lends itself towards Leitch's interpretation.
However, this is where I differ: so the story goes, Jesus was crucified at the age of 33, at which point he, um, well, he died. That's kind of how crucifixions go. Also, they are thunders of increase, which suggests increasing in number.
If the first angle is a circle—particularly the life-aligned side—then the second angle could be the line, or at least the death-aligned side of the circle.
Either way, you end up with a circle with a line through it, regardless of how you choose to parse Key 3 and Key 4 (up to this point).
Anyway, let's continue.
Interpretation of all the tangents
... under whom I have placed 9639, whom none hath yet numbered but one, in whom the second beginnings of things are and wax strong, which also successively are the number of time and their powers are as the first 456.
This is such a weird part.1 When you stop and really read through it, it reads very much like a riddle. Here are the things we know:
- No one has numbered whoever 9639 is (or are)
- The entity that waxes does encompass the second beginning of things
- Their powers are the number of time and are as (but not just are) the first 456
There is a little ambiguity of whether "in whom the second beginnings" applies to the "whom none hath yet numbered" or the "under whom I have placed 9639". It's very likely the 9639—Jesus doesn't wax or wane because he is equated in (Neoplatonic) Christian theology to the One.
And as far as riddles go, this is a good one—no answer key, nothing to work with but a lot of ambiguity from allegedly channeled transmissions from what may or may not have been angels.
Either way, here's what I decided to start with. One of the first things I tried was summing 9-6-3-9, which yields 27. Further, 27 is a factor of 9639 (in total, these are they: 1, 3, 7, 9, 17, 21, 27, 51, 63, 81, 119, 153, 189, 357, 459, 567, 1071, 1377, 3213, and 9639). I'm going to focus on these four: 9, 27, 63, and 153.
The number of days in a sidereal lunar month. The moon is the astrological planet of Yesod (corresponds to 9 and the personal unconscious mind), which sits in the tree of life beneath Tiphareth, which is Christ Consciousness (as stated in the last entry). This could fit, given that it is placed under the dead Christ, both literally and metaphorically.
27 gets some use, too: if you add 33 and 27 (the number of the thunders of increase + the sum of the digits placed under the dead Christ), you get 60—which has been a unit of measurement for time since the Babylonians, which matches the "number of time" description.
Continuing with the crucifixion idea (this one I'm convinced of), the 153 could correspond to the number of fish caught in John 21:11, where Jesus is proving that he had risen from the dead or something.2 Interestingly, 153 x 63 is 9639. The number 63 was referred to, during Dee's time, as the "Grand Climacteric" in medicine, signifying being truly old and at the threshold of death.
So, what about the other 456? My hunch is that these are actually better thought of as 789—Netzach, Hod, and Yesod on the Qabalistic tree of life. They operate in the same way as the first 456, just at a "lower voltage", if you will.
I don't say that without evidence. Take note that of the last part of the Key:
Arise, you sons of pleasure, and visit the earth, for I am the Lord your God, which is and liveth.
The planetary correspondence for Netzach is Venus, which is the first of the chain: 7-8-9. Venus and pleasure are deeply tied, Venus dealing with beauty and aesthetics and values and all.
Fourth Key takeaways
So uh... yeah. Key takeaway? Circle and line, this Key being about the line.

Anyway, byeeee! And thanks!
Footnotes
Well, for me at least. Reason being, I added the word "not" in two places in the Key while transcribing it at one point, and man oh man let me tell you, that really changes your interpretation of things. ↩
I don't know, I'm not a bible scholar—I'm just working with references to 153 I could find. Apparently the fish represent the souls of the dead. ↩
